Iranian film ‘Kech’ to compete at Skepto Int’l Film Festival

Iranian short film ‘Kech’ directed by Mehrdad Hassani has been scheduled to vie at the 8th edition of the Skepto International Film Festival in Italy.

The acclaimed Iranian short film will go on the Italian screen at Auditorium Comunale on Thursday, May 11.

‘Kech’, meaning daughter, is about a nurse who sacrifices her life in a war zone to save the life of a little girl.

Hassani’s short film has participated at several international film festivals so far, winning a number of awards, including Best Short Film award from the 9th edition of the Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) and the best short film at the 15th edition of Third Eye Asian Film festival in Mumbai, both in India.

The 15-minute Iranian production is slated to be screened along with ‘Hilde’ from Germany, ‘Maria’ from the Philippines, as well as ‘Love Comes Later’ from the US and India.

“Skepto is a non-profit cultural association, that came to be with the joint efforts of several cinema, photography and visual art lovers,” the festival’s official website wrote.

Skepto International Film Festival focuses on short films and has a competitive nature.

Its main aim is to encourage and give exposure to independent filmmakers from all over the world by creating an open space for dialogue and intercultural exchange.

The festival is slated for May 10-13, 2017 in the Italian city of Cagliari.
